Officially starting Crossfit :)

2016.08.27. Saturday


After the two-week introductory class, I took a week off, and then was supposed to start from Monday the 22nd, but couldn't really get myself to get going. This is why momentum is really important! However, I decided to stop being lazy and headed to the gym for the 9am class. Today's WOD had so much runnings in it... hopefully I get better at it soon :) Planning to go again tomorrow as well!

Bamboo shoots & mushrooms

Still have leftovers from the Shabushabu ingredients one week ago. Today I decided to use half the remaining mushroom & bamboo shoots. It's actually my first time cooking bamboo shoots!! :)

Ingredients: Bamboo shoots, mushrooms, onions, garlic, scallion, oyster sauce, sugar

Pork rib and Kimchi Stew

I was wondering what to do with the shitake mushrooms that I soaked in water yesterday evening..(I was going to use them in the risotto, which didn't happen because I couldn't get white wine....), and then remembered I had bought some kimchi, so maybe I could make kimchi stew! I found some pork rib in the freezer too, so that also went into the stew ;) 

Ingredients: Pork rib, kimchi, shitake mushrooms, garlic, cilantro

It was quite good, although next time I might try using the instant pot to cook it quicker, and make the pork softer.

Rib Eye Steak

I was thinking of making risotto, so went to stores nearby to buy some white wines... However they didn't sell any... :( 

So I changed my plan and bought a rib-eye steak instead. 

Ingredient: Rib-eye steak, butter, shallot, garlic, cilantro

The addition of cilantro at the end enhanced the flavor so much!! :) Should be careful not to cook it for so long though  

About 5 min on one side, then 3 min on the other side. Added cilantro at the end

Plated! :)

Succeeded in making a medium rare steak :D

Ddukbokki: dduk, peanuts, gochujang, soy sauce, syrup, cilantro

Oyster soup: Oysters, onions, zucchini, mushrooms, korean pepper, radish, cilantro
p.s. in order to preserve the color and taste, put the pepper only at the end.

First day of Crossfit workout!

2016.08.01. Monday

집 근처에 발견한 crossfit gym! :)
사실 crossfit이 무엇인지도 몰랐지만, 그냥 코치들이 잘 가르쳐줄것같고 이미 그 체육관에 다니고 있는 멤버들이 정말 fit한 걸 보니 효과 있을 것 같아서 망설임없이 2주짜리(6번) intro class를 등록했었다. 그리고 8월 1일 첫 수업! 미팅 & 실험때문에 조금 늦긴 했지만 ㅠㅠ 그래서 처음에 어디서 수업하는지도 모르겠고 스태프도 못 찾겠어서 당황해서 front desk앞에서 헤매고 있으니 여성 멤버 하나가 친절하게도 intro class 찾냐면서 저기 문 뒤에 있다면서 나를 안내해주었다 :) 고마운 마음을 가득 안고 그녀를 쫓아가는데 그녀의 팔과 등근육이 진짜 장난이 아님..... @_@ 가끔씩 여자애들이 인스타그램이나 페이스북에 허세로 올리는 운동사진과 너무 비교되었다. 덩달아 나 자신도 뒤돌아보게 되면서 겸손한 마음도 생기고, 진짜 열심히 해야겠다는 의욕도 생겼다 :)

WOD..힘들긴 했지만 끝까지 버텨가면서 100개 다 채워서 만족스러웠다! 나가기 전에 쪼매난 단백질 가루팩도 하나 사오고 ㅋㅋ 그래서인지 운동하고 그 다음날 근육통으로 엄청 고생할 줄 알았는데 괜찮네@_@!!(이미 trapeze 수업으로 인한 근육통으로 인해서 이건 아무것도 아닌것일수도 -_-) 2주간 자세 같은 거 잘 모르겠거나 하면 열심히 물어봐가면서 잘 배워 보자 :)

몇년 전에 운동 열심히 할때 혹시나 살 너무 빠질까봐 걱정이 되어서 gainer를 섭취한 적이 있었는데, 이번에도 무언가를 같이 섭취하면서 운동하는게 좋을 것 같아서 1회용짜리 하나 사봄. 약간 맛이 애매하긴 했지만, 그래도 섭취 후 bloating 증상은 없었던 것 같아서 고려해 볼 만한 상품인듯!
